Beecher's Handmade Cheese at Pike Place Market In Seattle

Two of my Filipino friends who have been living in Washington in a while just knew where to take me when I visited Seattle.

When it comes to THE place and THE food, they really know it all. So when they took me to this Seattle's tourist attraction or food attraction at Pike Place Market, I knew that it was not another tourist trap but a cheesy and at the same time not 'cheesy' spot.

It is the Beecher's Handmade Cheese Cafe. It's a cafe slash tourist place. Visitors can witness firsthand the centuries-old way of making cheese through the store's glass-walled cheese-making kitchens while indulging in their award-winning cheese-filled specialties. The glass wall is the huge draw because passersby stand on the outside and peer in at how cheese is made and those who are inside the cafe, eat at the bar and do the same thing- witness the creamy process. Yes, it's the cheese factory right there.

Hot paninis, soups and their world-famous mac & cheese are served everyday. At the Beecher's cheese counter, visitors can choose from a variety of American artisanal cheeses.

And there's more - grilled cheese sandwich, breadzel, grilled cheese with tomato soup and of course, their flagship cheese!

My friends EATING cheese, err saying CHEESE!

The ambiance here at Beecher's is a little bit old-fashioned. I guess that's the way they want to present themselves because they are known for handmade, organic cheeses.

Though we were a bit stuffed from the free taste bite-size cheeses at the counter, we still enjoyed our mac and cheese. It tasted excellent plus there was a free viewing of the cheese process. Beecher's award-winning cheeses truly deserve a come back.
