9/11 Memorial Museum (New York City)

One of the must-see places in New York City is the National September 11 Memorial or the 9/11 Memorial.

This site is a tribute to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. The site is situated at the former location of the Twin Towers Complex.

The twin waterfalls and reflecting pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. The memorial design was created by architects Michael Arad & Peter Walker, selected from a global design competition that included more than 5,000 entries from 63 countries. The waterfalls signify renewal and hope; and provide reflective atmosphere set apart from the noise of the city. More than 400 trees are planted on the site that provide shade during summer and provide colors in the autumn.

Just be prepared to be a bit sad when you visit the place because you will see the names of all those who died in the attack inscribed into the panels edging the Memorial pools which will remind you of the senseless attack that led to the death of thousands of Americans.
